One of the joys of music is being able to teach a choir different types of music. Jay M. DeVaughn relishes the opportunity to share his music as well as that of mainstream artists.
To sit in on a session with Mr. DeVaughn is to learn a lot about how good music should feel, to learn to do things that you never thought you could do, and to enjoy a light and pleasurable atmosphere while learning! You will also have a lot of fun while singing in the culminating concert! But be prepared, because he will work you out. So he advises that you bring water during rehearsals!
The culminating concert will be very worshipful and enjoyable by all!
REST ASSURED! You will laugh, you will enjoy, but you definitely will learn!
Songwriting is simply writing down your experiences and putting rhyme and melody to it! Have you ever written poetry? Well, A song is simply a poem with melody! We believe that songs if written with feeling and with Godly heart and soul can be a ministry in God and to humanity. We have songs to benefit all major areas of the liturgical year, particularly Christmas and Easter!
Have you heard music in a film that made your skin tingle or even crawl? A gospel song that compelled you to change your life? A love song that enhances the romance between you and your soulmate? Well at some point, these things had to be scored! Scoring is the process to transforming musical idea to a manuscript of music notation. In Layman's terms, It means to turn a melody in your head into SHEET MUSIC! In order for a Hymn to be in a Hymnal, a song to be in a songbook, or a film's orchestra to play a large work by a composer, It had to be scored first. These services Jayaughn can offer for a reasonable rate! You would expect:

“I was in need of quick transcription services for a song that I had written for the upcoming 2009 GMWA Convention. I received a referral from one of Mr. DeVaughn’s other customers and friends, Mr. Rodney Teal. I was expecting a turnaround of about 3 to 4 days but I received the services on the very same day. I was “amazed” at how quick he transferred the music from the mp3 file to sheet music.”
“The work and services that I have received from Mr. DeVaughn was truly a blessing.”
– Minister Cedric A. Poellnitz, Sr. a/k/a “Ceddy P".
"I am an administrator, serving the Performance Division of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. I have princpal responsibility for producing the GMWA Mass Choir Songbook. In working on the 2009 Songbook project, I was introduced to Mr. DeVaughn. Mr. DeVaughn scored several songs that are being presented to the GMWA 2009 Mass Choir. Mr. DeVaughn's gifts certainly aided my work on the Songbook project. Being a music scorer myself, I was overwhelmed by his level of professionalism, expertise, timeliness, and attention to minute detail."

"I am a Teacher and I know teaching methods. But when Mr. DeVaughn got up to teach his song, I immediately wondered if he was a teacher. Mr. DeVaughn broke everything down to where a 300 voice choir could understand it, and it didn't take forever to learn the song. He is an awesome and patient teacher.
